Imagine a use case:
Project Team had installed ReSharper 6.1, and each developer had modified his personal settings (like, Code Styles) for his own needs.
After that, Management team decided to share a company-wide file among the developers (with other Code Style settings). When it's done, these Company Wide settings applied for the Global Layer are still overridden for every developer with their own Solution-settings (like, Code Styles).
Now, this action is nearly pointless, since Solution Personal settings (modified by user before mounting the file) will override the "Company-Wide" settings WITHOUT any user interaction or notice.
The great idea is to prompt whether user would like to reset his own settings when mounting the company wide file, so the company wide settings will be applied. This is pretty critical if there are lots of solutions with changed settings before the file was mounted.
P.S. I'm including the original customer's email and my response on that in the comments section.
