When the R# coloring kicks in after analyzing the file, frequently, but not always, the identifiers will have a black background. To fix it, I go into the Fonts & Colors section of the VS options and change any R# color setting to something different. It doesn't matter which one I pick and inevitably it doesn't make a difference for the next time. Changing the color setting, though, seems to "kick" R# into applying proper coloring. This seems to happen usually the first time I've opened a VB.NET file after opening Visual Studio. Subsequently opening the file or another VB.NET file will result in the correct colors until I restart VS.
