The Problem: Stylecop Analyzer and the Stylecop Plugin for Resharper are not synchronized. So we need a Settings.StyleCop file for Resharper and a *.ruleset file for the Analyzer to disabled some of the rules.

I've been making a small change in one method. Removed a line with if statement and it's braces with remove braces action. R# has auto-formatted the entire method for some reason.

I think this is unexpected behavior, because it produced changes in lines I didn't touch which makes tracing changes in source control reeally hard.

In ReSharper 9.1, new option raised to use either Keyword or CRL type name for referencing built-in types.

As I stated in discussion https://devnet.jetbrains.com/thread/461833, I would like to see advanced option which will allow me to use CLR type name whenever I access static member on that class (therefore using CLR type name), but for declaring variables and arguments, use alias.

Why I made this ticket, rules are:
  • prefer using aliases for built-in types (int, bool, float, string, ...)
  • class name is always PascalCase
  • methods are on classes, not aliases (for me, I don't accept argument that "it is just alias to class")

Current option implemented in 9.1 does allow me only one of the option at same time (or I haven't find how to change that behavior, unless turning it off completely)

I'm attaching a single-line .NET Core 2 Console app (though I originally found this bug in .NET 4.7.1) that is valid, but when you run "Cleanup Code" on it, the source code is made invalid. R# changes:

string[] arrayDisplayColors = new string[] { "Blue", "DarkViolet", "Brown", "??" };
to
var arrayDisplayColors = { "Blue", "DarkViolet", "Brown", "??" };

which is invalid syntax.

Description

It appears to me that Resharper is doing some kind of network call and that process is causing visual studio to freeze until whatever Resharper is doing completes. This is made worse when I am on my companies slow VPN connection. This freeze happened mutliple times while typing up this report.

The performace timeline and sampling returned an error when trying to attach to this report. "Faild to attach using self profiling API.

Resharper is completly unusable like this and I keep it disabled.

Hi, when using Resharper code formatting, the parameter "Right Margin (columns)" in the Line Wrapping section is counting tabs as single character.

It would be preferable if the tab is counting as 4 columns or better if this could be configurable like the StyleCop+ rule SP2100.

ReSharper ignores the EditorConfig property "resharper_js_quote_style" (or one of its short forms). Although it is shown as active in the File Formatting Info pane, it's neither shown as overridden in the options window nor actually used for code style suggestions.

When the "Indent parenthesis" option is set to "Inside parenthesis BSD/K&R style", the closing brace of a multi line import is indented when it should not be. The screencaps should make my point clear.

The nullable reference types preview released here gives incorrect warnings. This feature is planned to be in C# 8.0 so it would be good to get the ball rolling and implement this now.

I've just learned from a blog post that the 2018.1 EAP supports setting inspection severities in the EditorConfig file. As mentioned in this post, the supported properties are listed on the Index of EditorConfig properties page in the documentation.

In my opinion this should be improved. That index page is extremely long. It's fine for searching, but not for reading through the available options. I suggest to create a sub page for all those inspection severity properties. On this page you could then also document the available settings for the properties (do_not_show, hint, suggestion, warning or error). I couldn't find those at all in the documentation.

Additionally I'd suggest to mention or link related inspection severity properties on the pages that document the actual setting properties. E.g. C# - CodeStyle - Static Members Qualification could mention that there is a "resharper_arrange_static_member_qualifier_highlighting" property that handles the highlighting of exactly that settings.

The ReSharper options window doesn't hightligh overridden severity settings from EditorConfig files. It also doesn't show the EditorConfig value in a tooltip.

This applies both to severities from Rolyn settings like "csharp_style_var_for_built_in_types = false:suggestion" and to ReSharpers own settings like "resharper_arrange_static_member_qualifier_highlighting = hint".

Tested with 2018.1 EAP 8
